Emergency contacts
Set who Gaggle contacts if something goes wrong on a flight, choose the triggers, and send a test notification.
Emergency contacts
Profile > Settings > Account > Emergency Contact
Gaggle can notify a person and your groups when it detects a possible emergency on a flight. Set this up before you fly.
If you have more than 5 flights and no emergency contact, a card on your profile reads Emergency Contact with a button to set one. The card goes away once you open it.
Set your contact
- Open Profile > Settings > Account > Emergency Contact.
- Tap Name and enter your contact’s name. Tap Save.
- Tap Email and enter their email address. Tap Save.
- Tap Phone and enter their phone number. Tap Save.
Gaggle sends an email to the address. It sends an SMS to the phone number only if you have an active paid plan. SMS messages are sent in supported regions.
Notify your groups
Tap Emergency Groups and tick the groups to message. Members of the groups you select are messaged on your behalf in an emergency. The row shows how many groups you chose.
Choose the triggers
Under Triggers, three switches decide what raises an alert:
- Signal Loss: Gaggle stops receiving your live location for 90 minutes while you are recording a flight. On by default.
- No Movement: you land and do not move away from your landing location. On by default.
- Out Landing: you land far away from your take-off location. Off by default. Gaggle does not alert if you land near a known flying site.
Alerts need your location to be shared. If Share Location is set to Private, Gaggle cannot send them. See Privacy & Security.

Send a test
Tap Send Test Notification at the bottom of the panel. Use it to check that your contact receives the message and knows what it is.
