Group Chat

Chat with the members of a group, meetup or competition, turn its notifications off, and see what admins can delete.

Group Chat

Group home > Group Chat

Every group has one chat for its members. Meetups and competitions call it Meetup Chat.

Open the chat

  1. Open the group, meetup or competition.
  2. Tap the chat icon at the top right. On a phone, tap More actions (three dots) and then Group Chat or Meetup Chat.

A dot on the icon shows unread messages.

Only members can chat. If you follow a meetup or competition without joining, the chat button is not shown.

You can also open the chat from your list of conversations. See Conversations.

Send a message

Type in the box at the bottom and send. Everyone in the group sees the message.

Turn notifications off for this chat

The bell icon at the top right of the chat controls alerts for this chat only.

  • Tap the bell to stop alerts. The icon changes to a crossed-out bell.
  • Tap the crossed-out bell to get alerts again.

Other group alerts, such as new flights, are separate. See the notification toggles in Groups.

Delete a message

Group admins can delete messages. Long-press a message and tap Delete. Members who are not admins cannot delete messages, including their own.

Private chats

Chats with one other pilot work a little differently. They have a Delete Chat button, which removes your messages and the chat from your list, and a Block User option when you long-press the other pilot’s message. Group chats have neither.
