Economy Leaderboards

Set up an economy leaderboard that scores how well pilots spend a fuel load, with a course, gates, landing and scoring formula.

Economy Leaderboards

Leaderboards > Organise > Economy setup

An economy leaderboard scores how well pilots spend a fuel load, from their flights and the fuel weights the marshals record. It is for organisers and scorers of a competition.

Create an economy leaderboard

Economy is offered in the task list only when the group scores a competition.

  1. Open the Leaderboards tab of the competition.
  2. Tap Create Leaderboard and choose Economy.
  3. Set the Name and save.

Gaggle then asks you to pick the course and its gates. The scoring starts from your event’s discipline. Only organisers and scorers can set up an economy leaderboard.

Set it up

Open the leaderboard, tap Organise, then Economy setup. The page shows a status at the top, for example Ready to score flights, or what is still missing.

  • Scoring: choose Efficiency index or Airtime. The efficiency index rewards flying far on little fuel, and quickly: distance per kilogram of fuel times speed. Airtime gives the win to the longest time in the air on the fuel load given.
  • Course: pick one of the group’s obstacle courses, or No course. A course brings its airfields, no-fly zones and its start and finish lines. With No course you set a landing circle of your own, such as for a fly-in.
  • Gates: with a course, tap Add a gate to choose the gates a flight must cross. Drag to reorder them, because a flight has to cross them in that order. With no gates, only the landing is checked.
  • Start gates and Finish gates: crossing any start gate starts the airtime. A flight that crosses none scores 0. The airtime ends at the last crossing of a finish gate. A flight that starts but never finishes is timed from take-off to landing.
  • Landing: pick the Arrival airfield where a flight lands to be weighed. You can also set an Emergency weigh point, where landing closes the flight. Without a course, use Landing circle, then Pick on the map and set the Radius.
  • Flight window: set From and Until so only flights that take off inside the window count. Without one, the leaderboard’s dates apply.

Advanced

  • Which flight counts: One flight counts the first flight in the window. Best attempt counts the best-scoring flight.
  • Airtime cap: the longest airtime that scores, in hours. Enter 0 for no cap. It shows only when Scoring is Airtime.
  • Airtime kept after an outlanding: a number from 0 to 1. It shows only when Scoring is Airtime.
  • Fuel dose: the fuel in kilograms. Enter 0 for none. With Efficiency index it sits under a Fuel heading.

If you leave with unsaved changes, Gaggle asks Leave without saving? and offers Discard or Keep editing.

Results

A flight can show why it did not score, for example Gates missed, Landed elsewhere, Seal broken, Too little fuel left or Awaiting weights. Some flights wait for the marshals’ fuel weights. For rescoring and downloads, see Group Leaderboards.
