July was another big month at Gaggle, with new spectator and live-tracking capabilities, substantial airspace improvements, and a strong focus on recording reliability and app stability.
New Features
- Introduced a live spectator view (and replays) for meetups and competitions with live audio commentary, live tracking, current standings, important flight events, and scores.
- Added XContest live tracking, enable under Settings > Integrations > XContest
Other Improvements
- Added an option to hide individual airspace advisories from their detail sheet, and various other small advisory improvements.
- Expanded eligible public live-tracking data that can be shared with approved drone providers while preserving privacy rules for friends, groups, and private flights.
- Improved recording recovery, including raw-location recovery, interrupted startup, backup restoration, and missing airborne flight tails.
- Improved recording replay loading times.
- Made airspace downloads and advisory translations more resilient.
- Preserved ICAO classifications for legacy airspace imports.
- Give feedback when connecting an external Bluetooth device that is not supported.
Notable Bugs Fixed 🐜
- Reduced airspace memory usage, causing some Android devices to become unresponsive.
- Fixed sunset audio using the wrong date after midnight.
- Fix bug where community airspace could not be removed.
