Flymaster Tracking for Competitions

Follow Flymaster trackers live in a competition, connect the Flymaster account, check tracking health, and fix gaps, mappings and IGC matches.

Flymaster Tracking for Competitions

Community > My Groups > Select your competition > Competition manager > Tracking

If your pilots fly with Flymaster trackers, Gaggle can follow them live and match their flights to the right pilot. Group admins set this up. Pilots and spectators watch the result in Live Tracking.

On a phone, this section is in the More tab of the competition manager. It is not in the menu until you switch on Follow Flymaster trackers, see below.

This tool works in events where organisers manage the pilots, see Competition Pilots.

Turn it on

  1. Open Overview in the competition manager, see Competition Manager.
  2. Switch on Follow Flymaster trackers.

A Tracking section appears. Connect your Flymaster account there.

Connect Flymaster

  1. Open Tracking.
  2. Tap Configure external tracking, or Configure in the Tools card.
  3. Switch on Enabled under External tracking and Flymaster enabled.
  4. Enter the Flymaster group ID. You need it before you can enable Flymaster.
  5. Pick the Ingestion mode: Live only, or Live and recordings.
  6. Pick the Live data source: Live websocket transport, Live map endpoint or API token endpoint. The last one needs the API token.
  7. Under Tracker reference, choose whether Gaggle matches pilots by Tracker serial or Competition ID.
  8. Set the Task window with Starts at UTC and Ends at UTC. You can link a Leaderboard and a Task, both optional.
  9. Tap Save.

The polling settings have limits. The normal polling interval is 15 to 3600 seconds, the active flight interval 5 to 60 seconds, the idle grace 0 to 300 seconds and the watchdog interval 60 to 300 seconds.

Before pilots launch, the Flymaster card says Connect a Flymaster group before pilots launch. Once connected it shows the group and the transport it uses.

Check the health

The Tracking page shows the state of live tracking:

  • Healthy, Waiting, Degraded or Failing
  • the time of the Last poll
  • Flying now, and Pilots tracked out of the field
  • Recent runs in lanes for Poll, Watchdog, Replay and Backfill. Each run shows its outcome, such as Succeeded, Completed with issues, Failed, Backing off, Running or Skipped.

Runs that could not match a tracker to a pilot show as unmapped or ambiguous trackers. Fix them with the tools below. Needs attention on the Overview also lists recent tracking failures.

Tools

Tools are in the Tools card on the Tracking page. Times are in UTC.

Run now

Run now starts a live tracking run straight away instead of waiting for the next poll. If one is already running, Gaggle says so.

Fill gap

Use Fill gap when live tracking started late or stopped briefly. Enter Gap ended at UTC. Gaggle asks Flymaster for the 6 hours before that time and adds the missing points. Under Advanced options you can also refresh the live map and reprocess flight recording sets.

Reprocess

Use Reprocess after you fix tracker assignments or event settings. Choose Starts at UTC and Ends at UTC. Gaggle rereads the live points it saved for that window. Refresh live tracking updates the live map. Reprocess flight recording sets re-runs the official recording recommendations.

Fix mappings

Use Fix mappings after you change tracker assignments, if old imports or live points still go to the wrong pilot. Gaggle shows a preview of exactly what would change. Tap Apply tracker repair to apply it. If two pilots hold the same tracker at once, it lists the conflict.

Rematch IGC

Use Rematch IGC after you correct tracker assignments, when imported Flymaster IGC files went to the wrong pilot or to no pilot.

  1. Tap Rematch IGC.
  2. Choose Starts at UTC and Ends at UTC. Only recordings created in that window are checked.
  3. Switch on Reprocess flight recording sets if you want recommendations and scoring updated after the move.
  4. Tap Run IGC tracker rematch.
  5. Read the IGC rematch preview. It lists the flights that would move from one pilot to another and any issues. Tap Apply to make the changes.

If nothing needs to move it says Nothing to change.
