Live and Replay Commentary

Commentary reads out important moments of a competition while you watch. It works on the live view and on replays. There is no extra plan requirement.

Live commentary

On a live competition group, the commentary button sits in the top controls of the map. It shows only while a leaderboard is displayed. It does not show on Live Tracking.

1. Open the live view and pick a leaderboard. See Watch a Live Competition or Meetup.
2. Tap the commentary button to turn commentary on.
3. Tap it again to turn it off.

The button has a tooltip. It gives the status, then the action, for example Commentary off. Enable commentary or Live commentary. Disable commentary.

Gaggle remembers whether you turned commentary on. On the web it starts only after you tap the button on that page. It pauses while you pause the timeline and stops when the app goes to the background.

Language

Commentary uses your Gaggle language. If it is not available in that language but another is, the status reads Available in followed by the locale, for example en-US. Tap the button to switch to that language and turn commentary on. If no language is available, the status reads Commentary unavailable.

Replay commentary

On a replay, a commentary button sits in the replay control bar. Its tooltip starts with Commentary.

1. Tap the button to open the commentary panel.
2. Turn on the switch beside Commentary.
3. Pick a language chip if more than one is offered. Chips show the locale, for example en-GB or fr-FR.

Above 2x, a note tells you that commentary plays the most important moments first. Replays play at 10x, 20x or 40x, so the note shows whenever you play. See Watch a Replay.
