Airports

Find airports on the Explore map, open an airport page, and see runways, frequencies, reporting gates, chat and alerts for an airport.

Airports

Gaggle lists airports next to flying sites, with data from OpenAIP. Airports help you plan around nearby traffic and see where to land or refuel.

Find an airport

  1. Open the Explore map.
  2. Turn on the airport icon in the row under the search bar. It is the second icon from the left.
  3. Tap an airport marker. The airport page opens.

You can also search for an airport by name in the Explore Search bar. Airport names show on the map from a close zoom.

The airport page

An airport page works like a flying site page. It has rows for Airport Guide and Airport Chat. Chat needs the Frequent Flyer plan or higher. Tap the settings icon to open Airport Settings.

Airport Settings has two switches: Weather Alerts and Flying Schedule Alerts. To get weather alerts for an airport, favourite it with the heart icon on its page and fly there regularly.

Airport Information

On the Adventurer plan, the airport page shows an Airport Information card. On other plans the card says it is an Adventurer feature. The card lists:

  1. Frequencies, with a Primary tag on the main one
  2. Runways, with Closed and Main tags where they apply

A hint tells you when an airport might be closed. Check with local authorities before you use it.

Tap Airport Details at the bottom of the card to open the airport on the OpenAIP website.

Reporting gates

On the Adventurer plan, the Explore map also shows the reporting gates of airports once you zoom in. The airport icon must be on, and so must the Reporting points switch in Settings > Personalization. See Reporting points. Compulsory gates show first. The other gates and the gate names show when you zoom in further. Tap a gate to see its details.

Always check the official aeronautical information for the airport before you fly near it.
