Find friends, groups, and events with the new Community Search

Introducing the highly requested Community Search. You can now easily search for groups, meetups, and other pilots straight from the Community home page.

• Find your friends: Tap on pilot to view their profile and follow them.
• Discover public groups: Join groups and share your recordings with other pilots, participate in leaderboards.
• Quickly find events in your area: Find exciting events in your area, meet new people.

🤷‍♂️ Why only now?

Many people have been asking for community search. We never allowed it in the past because we felt that your friends in Gaggle should reflect the connections you have with people you’ve met in real life. The community has grown, and the world does not really work in such black and white terms, and it’s time to make some changes.

• Privacy: Privacy is always top off mind with Gaggle, but we realise that people need an easier way to find and follow their friends in an easy an natural way.
• You Are In Control: You still have full control over your privacy and data sharing in Gaggle and you can disable your profile from showing up in the search function. People can still securely access your profile from a shared link or via a shared group.

👯 Finding Friends

Finding new people to follow is easy.

1. Open the Gaggle app and navigate to the Community page.
2. Tap on Search, search for a user, and tap on the profile you want to view.
3. Tap the “Follow” button on their profile to quickly follow them.
4. If you want to mark any of your followers as friends, navigate to your Profile > Followers, hit the three dots next to a follower and “Mark as Friend”. Marking pilots as friends helps to surface their flights in the community feed and it also means you can enable stricter privacy controls for your flights.

🕵 Want to stay private?

Hide your profile from search results.

1. Open Gaggle and navigate to the Profile page.
2. Tap on the settings icon top right > Privacy and Security > Search Visibility > Private.
3. Change it to Everyone if you want to show in results again.
