Airspace Advisories

Learn what airspace advisories are, where to find them, and how to filter what appears on your map.

Airspace Advisories

Home > Recommended advisories
Explore > Airspaces > Airspace advisories > Settings

Airspace advisories need the Frequent Flyer or Adventurer plan. Without it, the advisory pages show a plan prompt.

Airspace Advisories add a separate advisory layer on top of Gaggle’s regular airspace tools. They are designed to help you spot temporary or situational activity that may matter for flight planning and in-flight awareness, such as FAA NOTAM-backed drone and restriction advisories where supported.

Advisories come from FAA NOTAM and UK NATS NOTAM sources. Gaggle is designed to support more advisory providers over time.

Where to find advisories

On the Home tab, Gaggle can show a Recommended advisories card when there are active advisories near your current area.

Recommended advisories on Home

Tap the card to jump straight into the advisory flow for nearby advisories that may be relevant to your flight.

You can also open Explore > Airspaces. The page has an Airspace advisories section under the map preview.

Airspaces page advisory row

Tap Settings in that section to open the Airspace advisories page.

The main advisory settings page lets you turn the advisory layer on or off and can show a Recommended near you section with nearby items.

Airspace advisory settings overview

From this page you can:

  • enable or disable airspace advisories on the map
  • review nearby recommended advisories
  • choose how categories are filtered
  • open category-specific advisory lists

Automatic and custom filters

The Advisory categories card has two modes:

  • Automatic: Gaggle chooses the categories from the aircraft type you are flying. Paragliders, powered paragliders and hang gliders get the free-flight set of categories, and other aircraft get every category. In this mode the category chips are fixed and you cannot change them.
  • Custom: the category chips become switches, so you choose exactly which categories appear.

Airspace advisory settings

Categories are Drones, Restrictions, Obstacles, Airports, Runways, Radio and nav, Military, Airshows, Hazards and Other. Which ones have advisories depends on your region and the available data.

Advisory severity works in both modes. Choose which of Avoid, Caution and Info advisories are shown. At least one level must stay on, so you cannot turn off the last one.

Maximum Altitude

Maximum Altitude sets an upper limit. Advisories that start above this altitude are not shown. Tap the value, enter a new Upper Limit and tap Save.

Map, list, and detail flow

When advisories are enabled, matching advisory areas show on the map. The Recommended advisories card on Home opens a full-screen advisory map of your area. Its layers button switches the base map between Satellite, Terrain and OpenStreetMap. When Gaggle knows your position, the locate button at the bottom right moves the map back to you.

On the Airspace advisories page, tap a category such as Drones to see a list of its advisories. Use the search field at the top to find an advisory by its text. Tap Load More at the bottom to show more rows. Each row can show distance, source, category, severity and the active time window.

Advisory list

The sort button at the bottom left of the list sorts by Distance (when your location is known), Name, Start time, End time or severity, from small to large or large to small.

Notices that cover your whole region are marked Regional. They show in the list without a distance.

Tap a row to open the advisory detail sheet. It can show:

  • the advisory title
  • category and severity
  • source, such as FAA NOTAM
  • descriptive text from the source
  • active window and any schedule details
  • altitude limits when available
  • source reference fields such as NOTAM or location codes

Advisory detail sheet

Hide an advisory

Tap the eye icon on a row, or Hide at the bottom of the detail sheet, to hide an advisory from your maps and lists. Hidden rows are faded. Tap the icon again, or Show, to bring it back.

Regional notices cannot be hidden.

Audio cues

If you use Gaggle’s recorder audio announcements, open Recorder Settings > Audio Cues to control advisory announcements.

The Airspace Advisories audio cue has three choices:

  • No announcement: nothing is spoken. Advisories stay on your map.
  • Concise: announces when you enter an airspace advisory. This is the default.
  • Detailed: also gives the recommended action when there is one.

Announcements are short spoken messages, not the full NOTAM text. They cover Avoid and Caution advisories. Drone advisories are announced whatever their severity.

Sharing with approved drone operators

Gaggle also includes Share with drone operators in recorder privacy settings.

Share with drone operators setting

Approved drone operators can receive anonymized advisory flight-activity signals while you are flying. If your live tracking is set to Everyone, this sharing is included automatically. If your live tracking is set to Close Friends or My Groups, you can control it with Share with drone operators. If your live tracking is Private, your data is not included. This is not a public raw live-tracking feed.

Drone-operator sharing is intentionally limited:

  • it follows your live tracking privacy setting
  • only approved drone operators receive the advisory data
  • the shared data is anonymized
  • it is designed not to include your user ID, name, profile, photo, or full flight path
  • you can turn it off for Close Friends and My Groups sharing at any time

Important disclaimer

Airspace advisories are an additional awareness aid only.

They are not a certified briefing product, not an official pre-flight briefing service, and not a substitute for official publications, NOTAM checks, airspace review, or normal pilot judgment.

Availability depends on region, provider coverage, connectivity, and the specific advisory source. Always confirm critical information with the relevant official sources before and during flight planning.
