In September we introduced a completely rebuilt variometer, more custom instruments, alongside improvements to recording reliability, audio cues, and flight replay.

1. New Features

   • Completely rebuilt the variometer with multiple tone profiles, spatial audio, and more.
   • Added Lift Assist, with Thermal Assistant, Thermal Rising Column, and Ridge Assist custom instruments.
   • New Windsock custom instruments that includes your current heading.
   • New Power Lines Radar custom instrument with configurable range and orientation.
   • Extended power lines advisories to include overhead cableways, passenger lifts, and zip lines, with an option to mute them for the current recording.

2. Recording and Instrument Improvements

   • Improved wind estimates across altitude changes and smoothed the displayed wind direction and speed.
   • Added smooth heading animations to all custom radar instruments, including the heading compass.
   • Improved label spacing for small metric and wind instruments.
   • Improved recording start and stop when offline.
   • Improved elevation loading and cache recovery.
   • Improved terrain processing when elevation data is unavailable.
   • Improved power-line coverage loading and recovery during retries.

3. Audio and Airspace Improvements

   • Improved iOS audio session management for voice cues, variometer tones, spectator commentary, and music playback.
   • Fixed Android voice cues leaving music volume reduced.
   • Restored spoken chat notifications while recording on iOS.
   • Fixed airspace vertical-limit announcements when lower or upper limits are missing.
   • Update airsapce advisory translations in the recorder settings.
   • Added retries for airspace update downloads.

4. Flight Sharing and Replay Improvements

   • Made flight imports more reliable, including handling malformed IGC files, repeated import attempts, and storage permissions.
   • Added retries for temporary XContest upload ticket failures.
   • Fixed group-shared recordings and live flights not appearing for friends.
   • Improved replay timeline performance.
   • Fixed replay time displays and linked-flight timing when recordings contain gaps or different start times.
   • Fixed live spectator pilot camera tracking and smoothed distance-ring animations.
   • Fixed spectating groups without a leaderboard.

5. Other Improvements

   • Added a Glider Category column to leaderboard exports and support for importing glider categories from competition pilot lists.
   • Refreshed subscription cards and Unlock prompts with consistent styling and feature-specific mascots.
   • Open chat preview links in the external browser, and legal documents in the in-app browser.
   • Fixed a spatial audio startup crash on older iOS versions.
   • Fixed the selected language reverting to English when opening Ask Gaggle, and localized its text selection toolbar.
   • Fixed unsupported device languages causing forecast formatting errors.
   • Fixed stale achievement and personal-best statistics.
   • Fixed aircraft equipment flight lists showing unrelated recordings.
   • Fixed Android back navigation in nested settings.
   • Fixed subscription sheets selecting the wrong initial plan and Apple introductory offers appearing for ineligible accounts.
   • Prevented stationary tracks covering less than 100 metres from consuming trial flights.
   • Corrected aircraft categories reported by GDL90 and FLARM traffic sources.
   • Fixed side-view instrument rendering in small custom layouts.
